Dan and Suzy’s visit to Tanzania was more than a safari — it was a deeply personal and cultural experience built on friendship, connection, and shared values. As close family friends of the Maggie’s Tour Company team, their journey reflected the true spirit of Tanzanian hospitality.
Their adventure began with a warm welcome, where they were introduced to local family members and shared a traditional lunch together. From there, they traveled to Moshi, Kilimanjaro, to visit extended family and experience life at the foothills of Africa’s highest mountain.

From Moshi, the journey continued to the lush highlands of the Great Rift Valley, often referred to as the “Green Hills of Africa” — a name inspired by Green Hills of Africa by Ernest Hemingway.
Here, Dan and Suzy had the opportunity to engage with the Iraqw community, part of the Cushitic-speaking groups, gaining insights into language, traditions, and ways of life. This cultural exchange offered a deeper understanding of Tanzania’s diverse heritage.
On their journey back toward Moshi, they spent time with different communities and visited the famous Maji Moto (hot springs), a vibrant meeting place where people from various backgrounds come together. The experience was lively and inspiring, highlighting unity through shared moments.
They were also captivated by the scenic beauty of Lake Manyara National Park and Lake Eyasi, with breathtaking landscapes and wildlife. One of the most memorable highlights was witnessing views of both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru — a rare and remarkable sight.
Dan and Suzy also enjoyed time exploring Tanzania’s wildlife parks, where they experienced close encounters with animals in their natural habitats — adding a classic safari dimension to their journey.
During their stay, they visited the offices of Computer Springs Technology, where they exchanged ideas on digital marketing strategies to support the growth and visibility of Maggie’s Tour Company. This collaboration highlighted the blend of tourism and innovation.
A meaningful part of their journey included visiting women from The Dare Women’s Foundation. Together, they participated in creative environmental activities such as crafting chairs from recycled plastic bottles — promoting sustainability and environmental conservation.
This hands-on experience reflected the importance of giving back to nature and supporting local community initiatives.

These moments created genuine connections and lasting memories.
During their stay, Dan and Suzy visited local coffee plantations in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, where they experienced one of Tanzania’s most cherished traditions.
Guided by local farmers, they took part in the full coffee-making process — beginning with harvesting ripe coffee cherries directly from the trees. They then learned how the beans are carefully processed, dried, roasted over an open fire, and hand-ground using traditional methods.
The experience concluded with brewing and tasting their own freshly prepared coffee, offering a rich and authentic flavor shaped by the region’s fertile volcanic soils.
Beyond the process itself, this visit provided a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship, culture, and community behind every cup of Tanzanian coffee.
After an enriching and diverse experience, Dan and Suzy were transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for their return to the United States — carrying with them unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s people, landscapes, and culture.
