Elliott T2025-10-24Verified Wonderful thoughtful guide with a mission of conservation and uplifting the community. Make a difference, book today!! Please read, please book to support amazing humans doing amazing things!!We booked our Tanzanian adventure through Maggie’s Tour Company through a strong recommendation we got from a trusted traveler. Me and my wife went for 2 weeks as a part of our honeymoon. Off the bat, when contacting Maggie she was kind, friendly, and open to working with the budget we provided which was fairly low considering all we saw and did. Sending the money to her, gave us some concern but we paid through Wise, which took a few days but ultimately worked! Please don’t get discouraged by paying for the trip through one of these apps, I promise it’s worth it! We told her when our flight was supposed to arrive and she and her husband, Nishaeli showed up ahead of schedule. They were so welcoming, and friendly. Asking us questions about our wedding and what we did for work, for fun, etc and it all was genuine. In the car ride to our accommodations, she told us about her activities empowering women in the community and doing conservation. She is someone who clearly is looking to benefit her community and the people that call this beautiful country, home. Our guide(s):Though Maggie did not accompany us on our safaris, he husband Nishaeli served as an excellent and knowledgeable guide. He was interested in our experiences through life so far and about our way of life in the US. He made excellent conversation, often prompting us with thought provoking questions that really gave us a lot to chew on as we experienced a lifestyle and climate completely different than our own. He is also very much a lover of nature, though I knows he’s done many of these Safaris he still got excited to see some of the wildlife and his passion was apparent. By the end, I felt like I understood more about the animals, the geography, the people and life in general. My wife and I were both holding back tears leaving as though we felt like we were leaving a friend. What we did:We started with 4 days in Arusha. Here, we explored Arusha national park, visited local markets, museums, restaurants and did a wonderful coffee farm tour. One of the days, we were greeted by Maggie and Nisha accompanied by a few others. They were there to celebrate our honeymoon with live music and dancing. A wonderful personal touch. From Arusha we went to Tarangire National Park. We saw a plethora of animals (sooo many elephants!!) and stayed in a lovely camp resort overlooking the park. From there we went to Karatu Village. Where again we had comfortable accommodations. There we explored the village and met with people from different tribes, who explained and showed some of their cultural traditions and customs. We also did a game drive through the Ngorogoro Crater/Caldera which was stunning. We then went to the Serengeti. We saw lots of animals!! Our guide was helpful in helping us understand the lifestyles and habits of these animals along the way, providing a lot of context. The only animal we didn’t see on our trip was a Rhino but it wasn’t from a lack of effort by our guide as he chased rhinos across the entire park so we might see one, asking other Safari guides and park rangers for help along the way as there were few rhinos there who has many protections on them making them a rare occurrence to see. We spent a day learning of their conservation efforts, and their work in that regard. It was inspiring the passion they have. Our final night, we were invited to a party. This party wasn’t for us- just to be clear. This was a celebration of her sisters efforts to get fresh, clean water to a suffering village who had gone without it for so long. It was a cultural moment that brought members from a bunch of different tribes together to celebrate. It was awesome to see, so many smiles, so much dancing, food, and happy tears. It was special. The next morning was our heartbreak as we were dropped off at the airport.Overall: I cannot recommend Maggie’s Tour Company more. Know that by supporting her, your supporting many many people who need it. purplespoonevents2025-09-22Verified Wholesome Tanzania We discovered Maggie's tour company through an online search and couldn't be happier with our choice! On our first day, Maggie personally welcomed us and provided an insightful tour of several community development projects she's actively involved in. It was inspiring to see her work empowering local women and providing families with the resources they need to thrive. We also enjoyed a coffee plantation tour with Baraka that included a wonderful lunch. On another day, we were treated to an incredible safari experience in the Ngorongoro Crater with Luther. Both experiences were truly humbling and eye-opening. I wholeheartedly recommend Maggie's tour company to anyone visiting the area, especially those who value supporting women-led businesses and community-focused tourism. Yasamin A2025-07-01Verified Healing and Heart Maggie is one of the most inspiring and incredible women you will ever meet. Her knowledge of Tanzania will blow your mind, and her sense of adventure and humor is a balm for the soul. She is one of a handful of female guides in the country, and the proceeds of her safaris often funnels back into her community to support women and girls. Do yourself a favor and have the ride of your life while supporting and giving back to the people of Tanzania, who will claim your heart forever. Jill V2025-06-25Verified Maggie is AMAZING!!! I have partnered/worked with Maggie several times and she is incredible!!! Maggie organizes the most amazing time for our clients (and me personally!) - volunteering with local communities, spending time immersed with local Mamas and Masaii, visiting key places in Arusha, dining at various restaurants, taking us on safari and all of the logistics! From airport pick-up to drop-off everything was handled seamlessly. Maggie is incredibly knowledgealbe about Arusha, the environment and animals and the local community. I cannot recommend enough - traveling with Maggie's Tour company and engaging with Dare Women's Foundation (the NGO she founded to support women in Arusha). Jill K2025-06-24Verified Best Tour Operator! Maggie’s Tour Company was the absolute best! I’ve been on 2 tours now with Maggie and Nisha and I can’t rave enough about it! I went with a group from Canada called UGO Impact, and we were involved in a volunteer program through the Dare Women’s Foundation that Maggie also involved with. Maggie worked with UGO to facilitate our meals and cultural experiences while we were there. The last program was a family program and I attended with my two sons, aged 10 and 13. Maggie had local artisans come out to our volunteer site and everything was very interactive and the kids loved it! After our volunteer experience, we went on safari with Maggie’s Tours to Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. It was absolutely wonderful. Dealing with Maggie being a local Tanzanian is key to an amazing experience. The investment for visitors stays with the local community, Maggie knows everyone and what excursions are best, and she speaks the language and has a lot of connections with local Tanzanian groups. I love Maggie and Nisha and will definitely be returning! I highly recommend Maggie’s Tours to anyone! Helenaa88820242025-06-13Verified Unforgettable Safari Experience with Maggie’s Tour Company! Our safari with Maggie’s was absolutely incredible. From seamless pickup at the resort to a beautifully planned itinerary, every detail was handled with care and professionalism. The experience felt truly immersive — guided by knowledgeable experts, we listened to the sounds of the wild and watched animals in their natural habitat. A highlight was witnessing a herd of elephants protect their newborn from a pride of lions — simply breathtaking. We also loved visiting a Masai village and learning how coffee is made from scratch — a unique and memorable experience. If you’re looking for an authentic, well-organized safari, Maggie’s Tour Company is the perfect choice! Dreamer353735998452025-05-26Verified The only tour guide you should think about going on safari with!!! The trip with Maggie's Tour Company was absolutely fantastic — she was very available, helpful, and attentive throughout the whole trip! When some issues occurred because of other guests working with another agency, she was so quick to help us find a solution — even in the middle of the night! — and we ended up with a plan B that was better than anything we could have imagined. It was truly inspirational to spend with time with Maggie & her husband and learn about the important work they are doing to promote African-owned and women-owned safari businesses in the region. It's much more rare than you probably realise — and it's a huge issue not only for local businesses, but also the wildlife as foreign-owned tour companies are often much less caring and more disturbing to the animals. All in all, Maggie is a superstar and I can't wait to visit her again!!! Stephanie B2025-05-19Verified An incredible experience with Mama Maggie I cannot recommend Maggie’s tours enough. If you want a genuine, authentic experience with an earnest and holistic tour guide, Maggie is your girl. Not only that, but this is one of the few women-owned and locally-owned safari companies in Tanzania which makes it that much more meaningful and important to choose Mama Maggie’s tour company for your trip to Tanzania. One of my favorite things about Mama Maggie is that she doesn’t just focus on the big 5, she talks about the birds, ecology, animal relationships, she is full of facts and stories and she always makes sure that we do at least 10 minutes of silence in nature at each stop - a beautiful opportunity that connects you to your surroundings and grounds you in the present. I swear we saw more BECAUSE Mama Maggie is so in touch with her nature and surroundings. We had the best luck with animals sightings with her. We even saw a cheetah break into a run and hunt after a gazelle! Legendary. Also, Mama Maggie is just FUN! We had a fantastic and incredibly memorable experience with her. Asante sana Mama Maggie! mfcpdx2025-05-01Verified Fabulous Experience in Tanzania If there were only a way to give more than five stars! We thought we were signing on to just see the wonderful wildlife of Tanzania, but ended up feeling like we had a new family after spending two weeks traveling with Maggie. Traveling on the trip was just my husband and myself, so we got lots of personal attention and got to know Maggie as well as many of the locals quite well. Before we started the trip, Maggie asked us how much of the trip we would like to be spent seeing wildlife and how much we would like to be spent on cultural experiences. We chose 60% wildlife and 40% cultural experiences. The Safari portion of the trip was fabulous. We went to several parks, including Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Duluti, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti, all breathtaking. After 15 years of guiding, Maggie cannot only identify all the birds and mammals and reptiles, but understands their activity patterns, so she can spot them even in difficult situations. Her driver, Luthur, was a photographer himself and understood how to position the safari vehicle so we could capture the best photographs in the best light. Peter, the chef that traveled with us on our camping Safari made us enormous breakfasts, hot lunches, and three course meals every night. It felt like such a luxury to have someone cooking for us, as that’s definitely not something we are used to when camping at home. But we easily got used to it and that seems to be the way things are done in Tanzania for this level of tent camping. Another bonus of having someone that so carefully prepared our meals every day was that we didn’t get sick once on the trip! While on safari, we slept in tents (that were set up for us) with sleeping pads and sleeping bags on the ground and were quite comfortable. Apparently, there are other fancier, as well as more rustic, levels of camping, but we were quite satisfied with what we had. While the Safari portion of the trip was amazing, the people we met through Maggie‘s local connections were probably the most memorable. We visited local women’s groups that she sponsors, helping them develop skills, such as sewing to allow them to make money to support their family. We met several other young women guides that she has mentored as they trained to enter the largely male dominated guiding business, providing them support as needed. We even did a homestay with one of these lovely women which was delightful. We met a Masai tribe that she has developed strong friendships with and spent the afternoon in their village where they roasted a goat for us. We met another tribe where she is helping build a water system so the people don’t have to walk several miles to bring water home. There we were greeted by hours of drumming and dancing and joyous singing. They also prepared us a meal, and we spoke at length with one of the elderly members of their tribe who was well into her 90s about their tribal history. These experiences where we were invited into people‘s homes, ate meals with them, shared stories with them, and laughed with them are my favorite memories of Tanzania. My other strongest memories of Tanzania are of laughter. Maggie and our driver Luther were so fun to be with, making it a very upbeat trip. They cared about us as people, as well as clients, so we ended up feeling like family. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. K M2025-04-01Verified A Dream Trip to Tanzania! Experiencing Tanzania with Maggie's Tours has been nothing short of spectacular! From the very start, Maggie and her team were incredibly helpful and responsive, assisting me in crafting personalized itinerary that catered to our interests. From wildlife and nature experiences to time connecting with locals and engaging in cultural activities, our trips have been more than expected. Their commitment to sustainable tourism and local communities was evident throughout the journey. Yes, we have visited twice with Maggie, and plan to return with new friends! . I can't recommend them highly enough for anyone looking to explore Tanzania. This trip was truly a dream come true, and I look forward to returning in the future!
My name is Sophia Cole. I volunteered with Maggie as a single college student in 2015. While I was in Tanzania we went on a safari, which ended up being one of the most exciting aspects of the trip. It was amazing!! I went with a small group, consisting of myself and two gentlemen from Norway. Maggie is so personable and truly takes the time to get to know you on these trips. Not only is Maggie extremely knowledgeable about the field and loves explaining any question you may have, she takes precaution to ensure your safety at every point.

I had the amazing opportunity to have Mrs. Maggie as my tour guide. It was best five days of my life! Mrs. Maggie is so professional, fun, inspirational, and intelligent. She made the safari so rich and exciting. I felt so supported and enlightened by Mrs. Maggie’s energy and knowledge. What an unforgettable and life changing experience.

Taking a safari with Maggie was an absolute dream come true! We had to postpone our honeymoon trip because of the pandemic, and she was amazing to work with. Extremely understanding and flexible. Our actual trip was incredible. Both the game drives and cultural experiences were life changing. Maggie is so knowledgeable and so caring. She truly makes you feel like family. I’ve never been on another trip like this in my life!

My friend and I just returned from a two week trip with Maggie and crew through Kenya and Tanzania. It was fabulous! Together we designed a balance between safaris and learning about the culture. We met with local people at markets, visited and interacted with tribal members, and learned from Maggie about women’s issues and the safari “business”. Highly recommend Maggie’s Tours!

When many people plan a trip to Tanzania, they only have wildlife in mind. Maggie and her team showed us the beauty of Tanzania’s people, the beauty of the landscape, and the wildlife! Professional, Welcoming, Friendly, Fun, Flexible, Affordable are all the different ways I would describe an experience with Maggie’s Tour. But most importantly, I would say that Maggie and her team make you feel at home and like FAMILY!
We, Conservation VIP®, have been collaborating with Maggie on a project in Tanzania for over a year and postponed our initial trip due to the pandemic. This January, we finally made it there! Thank you, Maggie, for collaborating and helping to plan this special project that will be a dream come true!

Maggie made us fall in love with Tanzania… she was a big part of the reason we decided to come back. Every day she showed us just how involved she was with the community and how passionate she was to make change which inspired us. She has such a big heart and always puts other before herself. On safari, she was nothing short of amazing – she always made us feel safe, happy, and informed on our environment and the animals a part of it. We hope that everyone can come to Tanzania and have the opportunity to meet her and work with her. She will truly change your life.

Celebrating my birthday in Tanzania with Maggie’s Tour Company and Dare Women’s Foundation was the finest month of my life. I’ve dreamed of visiting The Serengeti since I was a child. Grateful this dream came true with Maggie Duncan Simbeye and Praygod Ndanshau. My experiences were unique and beautiful because of Maggie’s uniqueness, beauty, intelligence, knowledge and love of nature and people. All experiences, including my birthday party with people I now love as family, were pure magic I will carry in my heart forever. I will be returning to Tanzania because of these magical connections.

Our ten days with Maggie and our knowledgeable and intrepid driver Richard were an experience that will be with us for the rest of our lives. By the end of the first day, we felt that they were not just guides, but dear friends.
Not only did we see and identify over 125 species of birds and animals (including cheetahs, leopards, lions, rhino, elephants and giraffes), but — even more memorably — our interactions with Tanzanians were enlightening and authentic.
I appreciated the variety and uniqueness of the accommodations as well, from spa resorts to bush camps to park lodging. A fantastic experience!

My wife, Connie and I went on a Tanzanian safari in 2016 where we met Maggie. From the moment we entered the land rover and heard her say “I am your mama. I will take good care of you!”, I knew she was a special lady. Her knowledge of plants, animals and the natural environment is deep and her love of all of Tanzania is always apparent. Maggie possesses a fun, inquisitive and highly engaging personality which added to the specialness and uniqueness of our trip.

I recently visited Tanzania to volunteer at Dare Women’s Organization and also go on a safari. Maggie is an amazing, talented, intelligent, warm, kind and caring woman. She welcomed our group with open arms. The care and love we received was overwhelming. She arranged our safari; taking in Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro. Our guide was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Every care and arrangement was taken to make this a memorable trip. I would not hesitate a second to highly recommend Maggie’s tours.

My family (mom, sister, brother) and I had the privilege to take a safari in Kenya and Tanzania with Maggie and her amazing team. Seriously, the warmth and kindness and good vibes pervaded our whole 10 days. I know wildlife is wild and it’s never guaranteed, but we saw EVERY single animal possible on this blessed trip. God is so good and Maggie and her team brought such expertise and patience to put us in perfect spots to find and see animals. We got to see the Big 5 in both countries!!! 10 days was a great amount of time to explore multiple areas. We even interacted with local people groups through the trip and being part of the local culture was essential to us.

Maggie is a simply wonderful East African guide! She is marvelously friendly and helpful, and is very knowledgeable about the peoples and culture of Tanzania. She took me to a remote location to visit the Hadza people. She organized and ran the trip very professionally and flexibly to meet my interests and needs. She has many stories to tell and is passionate about her work as a guide and about the country and people. She made my visit both fascinating and a lot of fun.
This was a very special trip that I shall always remember.

If you have ever met Maggie, you know she is an amazing woman! The purpose of our trip was to collaborate with Maggie’s Tours in scoping out possible volunteer work areas in Karatu so that ConservationVIP.org and Maggie’s Tours might be able to contribute hands on labor in reforestation and tree planting efforts in Tanzania. Maggie aced and toured us through the worksites, Lake Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Everything was well organized. My personal heart touching moments were when Maggie had us meet with Masai and Gekrum Village community members.

Our Safari with Maggie in the National Parks of Tanzania was a highlight in our lives. Maggie is so very personable, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. She carries the whole picture on Safari – the Animals, The People, and the Environment. She was always conscious of our needs and our safety. Time with Maggie was a true African experience and it was so much fun! We would love to travel with her again.

I have being safari with Maggie. We visit Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation area. Through safari we learn lots of things like environment conservation, empowering woman through different ways like me. I was learning how to be a tour guide because my big dream is to be a tour guide so through that opportunity I learn lots of things. We share lots of stories and much enjoy to having opportunity to have Maggie as our tour guide. It was real fun and amazing. She is a loving woman and strong woman.

Two years ago, two friends of mine from Boulder twisted my arm into organizing a safari for them, while I was on business in Tanzania. Naturally, I turned to Maggie for help. A few months later, we had the incredible experience of a five-day private Safari tour of the Serengeti, Ngogrongoro and Tarangire National parks, with Maggie as our guide. She did and amazing job organizing all the logistics and leading the tour. Maggie’s hospitality, knowledge of the terrain and the business were exceptional. Besides, she is an amazingly loving human being. I have since recommended a couple of friends to her and would return to do business with her in a heartbeat.

We loved our 5-days Safari and cultural tour with Maggie! It exceeded our high expectations. It was easy to plan the tour by e-mail, Maggie had many great suggestions and was very attentive to our wishes.
We felt comfortable with Maggie and her team right away, and it was awesome to be with a local company with focus on sustainable tourism and a guide full of passion and knowledge about Tanzania, the people, the nature, the animals, birds, etc.
Maggie is an incredible person and perfect guide. Don’t miss out on the opportunity of a tour with Maggie!

Recently spent two weeks with Maggie in Kenya and Tanzania. It was a very special journey. Maggie’s tours include learning about the culture, and insight into the lives of Tanzanians. Maggie has an especially deep knowledge of women’s needs and supports many women trying to improve their lives. The safaris were spectacular, and Maggie employs local guides to enhance the experiences. Spending time with tribal members, exploring local markets, and feeling free to ask any question made this trip especially meaningful.

I recently returned from a truly “trip of a lifetime” to northern Tanzania. The trip was arranged by Maggie’s Tour Company. Our guide, and now, lifetime friend, Maggie is a funny, knowledgeable and all round lovely woman. She is also one of only six licensed safari guides in Tanzania and the ONLY woman to have her own tour company. I HIGHLY recommend travelling with Maggie. I travelled with another female friend and we saw every animal we hoped, but didn’t expect to be able to see. We also visited tribal villages, something so important to me. Maggie was sensitive to our needs and expectations. I can’t imagine a more sensational experience than the one Maggie provided for us.

What began as a safari vacation eventually became an unforgettable experience, in large part to Maggie and Dare Women’s Foundation. During this time I had the opportunity to tag along with Maggie and other members of Dare from Arusha to Tanga, as they collaborated with different groups that all shared a goal of making positive changes in their local community, eventually leading to great changes for the welfare of the country at large. Despite all the challenges that come with being somewhere new, I never felt so welcomed by and connected to a group of friends. While I know that the road ahead is long and there is much more work still to be done, I will always carry the memories of dance, laughter, and smiles that I shared with DWF.

The journey to Tanzania and safari was a trip of a lifetime! We went out in a fabulous jeep everyday and had close up experiences with animals you can only dream of seeing. We also visited an orphanage, went to markets, talked to people by the side of the road and spent many hours talking with Maggie about life in Africa. We felt so comfortable with Maggie, we had her arrange a volunteer opportunity, a home stay and a climb on Kilimanjaro for our 24 year old son after we left. By going on safari with Maggie you are supporting home-grown development and the survival of both human and animal species.
